Guiding ships for generations

Former client A.R. Savage & Son has a long history in Tampa Bay. Their roots in the maritime community date back to 1846 when CEO Arthur Savage's great, great grandfather Captain James McKay Sr. sailed in Tampa Bay and pioneered commercial shipping on the west coast of Florida.

In 2015, their team engaged my former agency, True Blue Communications, to manage a media relations program aimed at increasing awareness about the company and positioning executives as thought-leaders in the industry.

We kicked off this program with a press release and custom pitch about former President, Shirley Savage Knight, who had recently passed. Our outreach focused on her impressive career, as well as the history of the company.

The result was a placement in the International Propeller Club of the United States' Newsletter, a human interest story in local newspaper La Gacetaand a feature story above the fold on the front page of the The Tampa Tribune Sunday paper.
